It is with great sadness that I have to pass on news of the death of Ian Barrett.
Ian died whilst visiting family in the Philippines.
He took ill and despite the best medical care he developed pneumonia and died on Friday 16th September.
He will be cremated in the Philippines.
Ian as everyone knows was larger than life. He joined Hounslow in 1963 as a 17 year old playing mainly at inside left or outside left. He was also a member of the Middlesex side for many years winning the county championship in 1977. His indoor international career was as the main corner striker with England in late 70's and was record scorer for many years.
Ian was elected as a member of the LK's in 1977.
He hadn't been seen in recent years at LK's functions as he had moved to Aberdeen to be nearer his sons Matthew and Laurence (by his first marriage to Liz). With his second wife Dids he had two daughters Georgia and Maxine all of whom now live in Amsterdam.
Our thoughts are with all of them at this time. |
